Hawa Mahal is a historical monument of Jaipur. It was built in the year 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, who belonged to Kachhwaha Rajput dynasty and designed by Lal Chand Ustad who dedicated his work to Lord Krishna and Radha. A five-storey high red sandstone structure complete with over 950 windows, it was made in such a way that the breeze circulates through these windows, giving the palace its name.  The name Hawa Mahal means palace of winds and the structure is famous for its open windows, which are named as Jharokhas in the local language.
